chunkymonkey 0 Posted November 3, 2006 how do all ive had the bumper and front valance of the car,yes the fooking bumper bolts snapped!! now while its of im lookintg at replacing that big big horn that is on the front ride side of the car,im i right in thinking all 19 gti,s have that big air horn thing?...my horn relay is clicking so the horn isnt working anyway.im hoping to take that big horn of and replace it with a much smaller lighter item.anyone got any sugestions on which the best route would be.first job would be to replace the horn relay? then which smaller horn should i get any ideas out there chaps???? cheers gaz Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

hengti 2 Posted November 3, 2006 an electric horn would be a doddle to fit - just bolt it to the inner arch (or whatever). you'll need to make sure it has a good ground contact where you bolt it on though. other than that, it's just a straight swap of the wiring onto the new horn. i reckon you'll probably save all of about 500ish grammes it might even go faster Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted December 18, 2006 I bought a new 1.9 air horn from the dealer and it only lasted about 6 months. Wasn't cheap either. I ended up going for the 1.6 gti twin electric option. One high pitch and one low pitch horn. My local car parts shop had a them on the shelf that looked exactly the same as the genuine Peugeot ones for a 10th of the price. Go for electric ones unless you fancy servicing the horn every year. The position is too exposed for it to last through winter IMO Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
