Ignition Switch / Barrel Sourcing

Recommended Posts

Guest the voyeur

The spring on my ignition switch has 'retired' and would like to know the best place to source a replacement. Is there any advantages in getting a 'scrap' ignition or get new from Peugeot?

Cheers in advance

GSF/ECP/Autofive are your best bet (about £20-30 from memory)

they're very expensive from Peugeot

the problem with getting a s/h one is that you can't be sure it'll last much longer than your old one did. alot of cars have aftermarket immobilisers fitted, which causes a current drain across the starter circuit; this can mean that you have to turn the key a few times to get any action out of the starter solenoid - an old switch obviously won't put up with this for as long as a new one.

one thing to remember, though, is that you'll have an extra key on your ring, as you'll need to keep the original for the doors and (even if you've got remote central locking) the petrol cap
