Another Use For The Oil Plug Tool!

Recommended Posts

Was over at Teknopug's on Sunday so he could help me replace my drivers door (by which I mean he did most of the work and I stood around stroking my chin :D ).

Anyway, Andrew was having a spot of bother knocking the check strap pin out using various punch's and screw drivers etc. So I glanced down at my toll kit and saw the ever useful oil drain plug spanner. Hmmm, I pondered :P

'Here, give this ago, looks like it could work' I said.

So he positioned one end over the pin, gave it a few knocks with the hammer and sure enough, job's a good un :D Is there no end to this tool's uses?

Whilst I'm here, did anyone else know that Pug changed the design of the tailgate hinges? I've got a tailgate from an F reg that has two bolt holes for each hinge in the door, whereas the tailgate and hinges on my H reg only use one bolt for each hinge. I wish we had spotted it before cutting the loom in half and taking the tailgate off ;)

at least it gave you something to have a little moan about :P

The plug tool is on my to buy list as no idea where mine is (probably with all the T55 Torx bits and the allen keys)

I just use a house door handle and the square rod that goes through to the other side. Does the job perfectly so I havn't felt the need to buy a proper one. And as it happens my drivers door is sagging, so it's door handle to the rescue again!
