Kms Throttle Bodies And Management

Hi folks. Can anyone tell me how much it work out to have KMS boddies and management.

 

I ve previously had Jenveys and EFI from Longmans however that worked out over £2k. Ive heard that the kms is good and well priced.

 

How much is the kit? and is there no compramise in quality.

The bodies look as good as any others on the market.

 

Management wise, it's always bst off to choose who's mapping the engine first, then ask them what is their prefered system and go with that. As it saves time mapping as they are ofay with it. :P

Words of wisdom! Find your mapper, have a chat with them about what you want to do and then select the managemnet they are most familiar with and will suit your needs the most. I run KMS bodies and they are extremely good for the money......

oh yeah try finding a mapper that will happily ot even recommend that :rolleyes: As well as the above, combine a local mapper's choice with someone that has a map from a close spec'd engine. Will save you money and means you'll have a good starting map.

 

Don't forget to get a lambda boss welded into your manifold if it doesnt already have one

^ bally's a dealer and recommends it, having it on his car and having it fitted to lots of other cars :rolleyes:.

As for mappers, not too many I'd take my car to. I'm using emerald, which means Dave Walker, otherwise it woudl be Steve Grenald (sp??) his preference would be DTA both legneds in their own rights.

Sorry to hijack but couldn't help overhearing - whats this in aid of and why would you do this on throttle bodies, please explain if you don't mind?

 

so would an Mi16 engine not carry one as standard then?

A lambda boss doesn't have anything directly to do with throttle bodies, it's to do with aftermarket ECU's and the way they are mapped. Often a lambda probe is used just while the car is being mapped but you can get wide band options on many ECU's and standalone gauges etc. Sean is quite clued up on this as he's been looking into it a lot lately...

As Jon says the lambda boss is to let you or the mapper check the AFR. some people have then in the car permenently so if the engine suddenly leans you can slow down before holing a piston, which on a megabucks engine, £200 for a safe guard isn't that bad. Ideal possitioning is where all 4 cylinders flow i to one, I'm locating mine just by the gear stick under the car as there seems to be good space there and can get it higher than the lowest point on the car, (not something you'd want to knock off :) )
