Martin W 0 Posted October 15, 2006 (edited) Ok I've got a 205 Mi16 track car with std 1.6 gearbox. I've been considering a 4.8 CWP (Mi16 is 4.4), the car only get used for trackdays so crusing down the motorway is not an issue. Does anyone have one fitted? I know the 205 Challenge cars use them but I would only use it on tarmac. What are people's opinoins of these, will they make the ratios too short? Any opinions gratefully accepted Edited October 15, 2006 by Martin W
smckeown 1 Posted October 15, 2006 yeah i'd say it's too short, never seen any track car use such a FD.
petert 607 Posted October 15, 2006 It depends where your power range is. If you've got a 5000-8000 power range then it's a must. I bought one with the idea of fitting to my 205, but I'll probably end up putting in the my Mi16x4 with the 205 closer ratios. Just so it stays on the boil. cybernck 403 1 Cars Posted October 16, 2006 i'd say it's too short for trackdays, unless you go uphill much, or rev to 8k rpm as petert said. you'll have to change gears all too often as well. 4.4 is pretty good though .
SimonJ 2 Posted October 16, 2006 The top speed of mine is about 104 on the limiter in 5th which will be too low for many tracks I would have thought.
Martin W 0 Posted October 16, 2006 Thanks guys, I'll try a 1.9/Mi16 FD for the longer first gear
