What Master Cylinder To Use?

as im building my car back up from scratch basically, i thought id put some big stoppers on it. im going to have GTi 180 brakes but what master cylinder should i use?, would the 20.6mm GTi one be ok? or should i use a bigger one from a 405?

my pedal travel isn't too bad on my 206gti180 brakes, however if your wanting little to no give then the 405 unit is best used iirc.

 

i prefer abit of give in the peddle as its quite easy to lock them up if you just push hard...

I found with the 20.6mc that if you shimmed the master cylinder/actuator up you can get a nice pedal with about 5mm of modulation - if you run anti-knockback kit then you get about 1-2mm of slack at the most too.

i think ill stich the 20.6mm one and if i dont like it i can always change it later!!!

Early 406 non ABS MC (23.8mm) gives you zero peddle travel and your brakes are on or off.

 

20.6 gti MC gives you a long peddle before the proper braking starts.

 

i'm about to experiment with the 22mm MC from teh 306xsi
