BERTMAN 40 1 Cars Posted October 15, 2006 as im building my car back up from scratch basically, i thought id put some big stoppers on it. im going to have GTi 180 brakes but what master cylinder should i use?, would the 20.6mm GTi one be ok? or should i use a bigger one from a 405? cheers any help welcomed Lee
pug_life 0 Posted October 15, 2006 my pedal travel isn't too bad on my 206gti180 brakes, however if your wanting little to no give then the 405 unit is best used iirc. i prefer abit of give in the peddle as its quite easy to lock them up if you just push hard... I found with the 20.6mc that if you shimmed the master cylinder/actuator up you can get a nice pedal with about 5mm of modulation - if you run anti-knockback kit then you get about 1-2mm of slack at the most too. j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted October 15, 2006 Early 406 non ABS MC works a treat.

tom_m 0 Posted October 15, 2006 Early 406 non ABS MC (23.8mm) gives you zero peddle travel and your brakes are on or off. 20.6 gti MC gives you a long peddle before the proper braking starts. i'm about to experiment with the 22mm MC from teh 306xsi
