acox99 74 1 Cars Posted October 13, 2006 Are quick racks worth it for a track/ hill climb car? how much are they and where can you get them from, has anyone had any experience with using them?
boombang 2 Posted October 13, 2006 If you don't already have PAS, a PAS rack is less turns lock to lock than non-PAS. You don't have to connect the assistance up either, just make sure you remove the ram unless you are Popeye! It may make the steering a bit heavy out of tight corners - my old car had PAS rack without assistance and was heavy coming out of the hairpin at Prescott Hill. Duroc 2 1 Cars Posted October 14, 2006 The 205 non-PAS rack was 3.7 turns lock to lock. PAS was 3.2. I have a TAS (2.5 turns) quick rack on one of my pugs. It does take a bit of getting used to, although it's made worse by the fact that I'm running a Quaife ATB diff. It does weight up considerably in tight corners. But I've taken it on track and it's manageable.
Doof 11 Posted October 14, 2006 Can you still get TAS racks, for some reason i've got it in my head that they're not available?
16v205 9 Posted October 14, 2006 Ive got a 2.5 turn TAS rack and a tran-x plated diff without PAS. Its not too bad, easily managable on track days. Rich

jodycraw 0 Posted October 19, 2006 Hello all, I'm new to this forum! Sorry to steal this thread, but.... Anyway, i've got a problem with my car now passing the MOT. I've got an Mi 16 it has a power steering rack without the pipes fluid etc connected, and they are failing the car on the basis that it is a power steered car, but power steering is failing. Does anyone else have this fitted and how do you get them to MOT pass it???! Thanks verymuch, Jody
