smckeown 1 Posted October 13, 2006 I've been looking around for some superleggeras and cant find a decent set at the moment. In the ford fitment of ET38 they were 4.9 KGS. The 10mm spacers I ran were 750g each so per corner the total was 5.65Kgs. This year OZ have released the ultraleggera and they are available in the correct offset of ET18 and from the research I have done they seem to weight approx 5.3kgs. They have a range of colours available, unfortunately white isn't one of them, so the next best looks like matt black I'll be running 195/45/r15 ACB10 tyres, so do I need 6.5 or 7 inch wide rims ? cheers sean
Sandy 191 Posted October 13, 2006 I'd say 6.5's, the Caterhams run those ACB10's on 6.5's.
Dj_mini 7 Posted October 13, 2006 6.5 for 195's 7 for 205's. Keep you eye out on ssc for superlegeras i picked a mint set for £200 with tyres!
smckeown 1 Posted October 13, 2006 thanks guys. I'm also looking out to see if I can get my hands on those Citroen c5 ali rims...
cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted October 13, 2006 as a bonus, ultraleggera's look good on 205's .
number2301 1 1 Cars Posted October 16, 2006 You reckon? When I first saw the ultras I thought they were a bit bling compared to the nice motorsport style Superls.
smckeown 1 Posted October 16, 2006 a deal has confirmed they weigh 4.8kgs each with the correct offset...nice. Unfortunately they can only supply silver, so the quest continues to get someone to supply me a set in matt black...hopefully be orderding a set this week.... VisaGTi16v 1 Posted October 17, 2006 (edited) What are these c5 ally rims you mention? Im currently running (whisper it...) xr2 wheels on my visa as I needed 6" 13's but they weigh 10kg each or something. May go to a bigger wheel next year, are there any PSA ones that are 15" and 6.5" wide or similar and prerefably light? petert 587 Posted October 17, 2006 What are these c5 ally rims you mention? These: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?a...post&id=810 they're 15x6, 18ET and weigh 4.8Kg. Plenty of them over here, but they seem to be scarce in the UK, which seems unusual given the number of Cits. you have on the road. I've got 205's on 6.5" wheels and they are a touch baggy. VisaGTi16v 1 Posted October 17, 2006 Yoko 32r's? A hunt around the scrap yards may be required but I think if I went to 15's I would want 6.5" so I can run wider slicks or at least have them fit a bit better with less sidewall movement
petert 587 Posted October 17, 2006 yes, they're 32's from my track car. You can widen the C5 wheels to what ever width you want. A friend of mine has them in 15x7. The other benefit is that you can fit huge breaks under them easily. Although I couldn't quite fit the 406 Brembo caliper without a spacer.
VisaGTi16v 1 Posted October 17, 2006 ay? how do you widen them other than cutting in 2 and adding another bit or am I being really stupid? (quite possible!). I used 48r's last year which were quite good but now I just use them to drive to sprints before swapping to my slicks
smckeown 1 Posted October 17, 2006 I used 48r's last year which were quite good but now I just use them to drive to sprints before swapping to my slicks bloody hell what a waste...
petert 587 Posted October 17, 2006 just like that. Cut them open and weld in a ring.
VisaGTi16v 1 Posted October 17, 2006 ah ok so I wasnt being stupid. Never heard of that being done. My work also owns a precision enginerring company who could do that. Interesting heh. smckeown: Well you could say that but as I drive the car full up with tools, 5 wheels with slicks on etc I cant fit them in as well and drive on another set of wheels with cheapo tyres. They only cost me £280 for the 4 brand new and ive had over 3000 road miles and 10 sprints out of them so far so I cant argue with that! Medium compound as soft wasnt available when i got them. smighall 1 Posted October 17, 2006 I think you'd be better off with 7" wide. These should give even a 195 tyre a squarer profile, ultimatley giving more grip, as the side walls should flex less.
