Ew Engine Question

Recommended Posts

jacobs53

Hi, just testing the water. I am starting a project which involves using a EW engine from a 206 GTI and wondeed if any of you know the following?

*Is the EW engine compatable with the BE range of boxes, the standard box has a hydraulic clutch mech. But the box looks like a BE range, so im guessing yes.

*Can the inlet or exhaust be exchanged for the GTI-6 parts... the exhaust is not that bad, but the standard inlet is bloody terrible!

*Anyone know if the camshafts XU engines can be utilised? I'm hazarding at a guess that the standard cams are quite lame, so hoping to upgrade to GTI-6 cams or use 2 x 180 exhaust cams.

Il grab some pictures, as il be rebuilding the lump to go into a 206 race car that will hopefully enter into britcar 24hr series.

Cheers lee

The EW does use a BE box with a different casing to the XU, LHD 206 GTi's have cable operated clutch iirc.

According to earlier info on this site it's possible to use the BE4 clutch casing and BE3 gearbox casing

Hasn't the 206 180 got variable valve timing? This might mean the cams aren't compatible with the older GTi engine
