jacobs53 0 Posted October 12, 2006 Hi, just testing the water. I am starting a project which involves using a EW engine from a 206 GTI and wondeed if any of you know the following? *Is the EW engine compatable with the BE range of boxes, the standard box has a hydraulic clutch mech. But the box looks like a BE range, so im guessing yes. *Can the inlet or exhaust be exchanged for the GTI-6 parts... the exhaust is not that bad, but the standard inlet is bloody terrible! *Anyone know if the camshafts XU engines can be utilised? I'm hazarding at a guess that the standard cams are quite lame, so hoping to upgrade to GTI-6 cams or use 2 x 180 exhaust cams. Il grab some pictures, as il be rebuilding the lump to go into a 206 race car that will hopefully enter into britcar 24hr series. Cheers lee
Sandy 191 Posted October 13, 2006 The EW does use a BE box with a different casing to the XU, LHD 206 GTi's have cable operated clutch iirc.
niklas 1 Posted October 13, 2006 According to earlier info on this site it's possible to use the BE4 clutch casing and BE3 gearbox casing
Jer309GTi 3 Posted October 13, 2006 Hasn't the 206 180 got variable valve timing? This might mean the cams aren't compatible with the older GTi engine
