right ive finally got my 205 and it is now in garages awaiting work on it, the guy i bought it offthrew in some spax adjustables, and from what ive read they are crap and not worth fitting!

just want to ask if i should fit them or if i should just keep the standard ones on and maybe fit some 35mm lowering springs?

cheers ben

Ben,

The only experience i have with spax adjustables is on a VW golf mk2, so i dont know how helpful this will be, but in my opinion they were pretty crap. quite crashy, and not at all comfortable. The standard 205 GTi shocks are perfectly sufficient for road use, and like you, im opting for standard shocks with lowering springs. I would ask myself why he "threw the spax adjustables in"...if they were any good, they would probably still be on the car wouldnt they?

Regards

Faz

Exactly, i know a few people that have reverted to standards and have praised a good standard setup much more than Spax's as the damping seems to be pretty sh!t.

But throw them my way if they're up for grabs as they're decidedly good(ish) for an autocross car. :)

the spax were off a doner car that he bought and he didnt have time to fit them, so he says! should i fit them and try them and see what there like and if i dont like them then take them off and refit standard ones or should i just leave standard ones on fullstop?

cheers

i actually find my spax adjustables very good. the car feels really sturdy with them on, and contrary to what i have been told by other users whenever the car hits a bump, it settle instantly and is ready for the next one.

Mine are brand new though and i have been told that spax cleaned their act up later on.

Just my 2p.
