Search under Ant's post's.He put some pictures up

Basically you will need two sharp 90 degree bends from throttle body to IC and maybe a 45 coming off the crossover pipe.

Just offer it up and zip tie it in, then work out what you need.

Thats the problem, bit worried about the two 90's. Its a shame you cant lop a bit off the end of the cooler and bring it to the right a bit, would have mounted straight into the body then.

Unavoidable really, think you always going to have atleast one tight bend going into the TB on a 2.0l T.

Cutting down silicone hoses is easy though, with help of a jubilee clip and a stanley knife.

Thats why I think mounting a cossie IC there is not the best solution.

Has anyone tested the efficiency of these or are they popular just because they will fit in the bottom of the grille and are cheap?

I dont think efficiency is a problem, as its been said before that they are good for 250-300hp applications.

Do they fit properly?Would I sacrifice possibley weakening the front of the car by dropping the rad or postitioning it above the rad-no.

Slightly off topic but considering the fan cowling is made of plastic and the rad attachs to this, how does dropping the rad weaken the front of the car? from a chassi point of view, isn't anything in front of the struts not an integral part of the shells rigidity? If it is, then a headlight strut brace would be a good invention for someone

I've seen one a few years ago that replaced the slam panel, I was told it was from SBC.

Drop the radiator, remove the fan cowling and run the pipes over the top. I did have one but the top kept popping off it. I ended up changing for a Fiat Punto GT one. this Pic has the R5 one on it

Ant

below is a pic i took when just testing the water. I have no pics of when i installed it propely.

But it does fit. You need a 45 degree pipe, and a 90degree pipe from the turbo to the IC, and then a diy 90 degree at both ends pipe from the IC to the inlet. Mine ran, but i only had a crappy arc welder that wouldnt seel the weld properly, so was leeking some boost. Im off to buy an mg this weekend and do the pipe properly. Mine will then be back on the road

hope this helps

I've used an MR2 intercooler and not had to drop radiator or mess about with cutting the front cross-member.

Plenty of pics here

I popped a boost hose recently, probably something to do with boost regulator not functioning and me reaching 1.5bar

Would definately consider swaged ends on metal boost pipes now.

Thanks every one. Sam, your pics have really helped with that mr2 cooler, did you have the pipes on the cooler modified or are they original? Look a perfect fit!

Adam

Cool, glad it helped You.Nope the pipes came like that:).Had to grind off some brackets that were on the top of it, however you could use them to your advantage;)From what I've been told, its a great design of cooler, just that its in the wrong place in a MR2, it came with a fan also lol.

Had a cut a small section out the back lip of the bumper, but no hardship really...that came with the pipe work that followed, to get it positioned nicely:D

What are the 2 wiring looms your using? I was only given the main engine loom that connects to the ecu and was told its all I need! Is this wrong? :)

There seems to be a few variations of wiring looms dependant on models..406, Xm , 605 etc..

What car did yours come from?

However mine(406) has the Engine loom with most of the sensors, injector plugs on it, plus a main harness wich connects via two brown multiplugs. The main loom has the ECU connector on it plus two big fuseboxes

There are a hell of alot of wires there,75% of wich you wont use.

Maybe get a pic up and I can help you further:)

Mine is from a 406, and has the ecu plug plus injectors and engine sensors, and the 2 brown plugs that go into the car. No relays or fuse boxes though!

I *think* you can get away without those fuseboxes, sure Ant on this Forum has done?

I Have a spare injection double relay if you need it:)
