newdean0 0 Posted October 9, 2006 Hi, I've just fitted the 1.9 hubs, brakes and driveshafts to my 1.6. When driving normally i.e. accelerating, braking cornering the car is fine but if I corner hard left I get a really harsh vibration through the steering wheel like I'm driving over cobbles. It makes no difference if I'm under power or not and full lock does not produce clicks from the driveshaft. There's no play in the wheel bearing on the RHS when jacked up and the wheel spins fine with no resistance. There was play in the hub when I first installed it but I assumed this was because I did not have the hub nut done up at the time. Any ideas what's causing this? It doesn't appear to be the wheel bearing but can they fail such that they only vibrate/make nasty noises under a lot of load but are fine the rest of the time? willxs 0 Posted October 10, 2006 i would, if you could. replace the driveshaft (long one) to see and make sure. as i had those symptons on my gti. i replaced the driveshaft and wheel bearings and still got the same problem, so i tried another driveshaft to make sure it wasnt faulty and it did turn out to be a faulty part. so if you could, id take another look at your shaft. and then the next week, the other side went
