Dixon 1 Posted October 9, 2006 What have people used to fit/stick their rear polycarb window in with? I've heard using windscreen glue works, but what exactly am I looking for and where would I get it from? I went in to halfords and all I could find was silicone, I assume this wouldn't be strong enough and not quite what people mean by windscreen glue. Has anyone rivited it in place, will the polycarbonate stand up to it?
smckeown 1 Posted October 9, 2006 base model rubbers are the best. other than that rivet/bolt if screen oversized
Batfink 201 Posted October 9, 2006 riveting works very well. I've done a few polycarb windows this way. I then do a very thin seal of silicone and its waterproof too
smckeown 1 Posted October 9, 2006 ah do you mean rear or rear 1/4 ?
Dixon 1 Posted October 9, 2006 Sorry I mean the rear, as in the boot lid. I've done all the others and used the base model rubbers for the rear 1/4's.
calvinhorse 870 Posted October 9, 2006 paint a 1 1/2" black strip round the edge then mastic it in then screws the black lip makes it look tidyer!!!
Dixon 1 Posted October 13, 2006 So is the general feel to rivit and silicone it in? I'm guessing that drilling / riviting doesn't split the polycarbonite?
smckeown 1 Posted October 13, 2006 drilling is fine. I'd bolt them in to be honest. Like i did here with small headed bolts.
