daz205 1 Posted October 6, 2006 somehow i think my engine has a larger sump on it maybe from a diesel i have no idea why or if it has any benifits/drawbacks for it, but i was planning an oil change this weekend do i fill it to the marker on the dipstick or do i put in the recommened amount for the engine with a normal sump, weird Q i know and i plan to change the sump to a normal one when i have sorted the other problems out
philfingers 5 Posted October 6, 2006 So long as the dipstick is the correct one (and the dipstick tube too!) then fill it to the correct marker. You may have a deeper sump, then it will take more oil BUT it still needs to be filled to the design level. My theory anyway!
daz205 1 Posted October 6, 2006 yes everything else is correct i was just worried about the extra oil blowing gaskets when under pressure
