Xu10j4rs Engine To Be1 Box

Recommended Posts

just tried to fit a gti clutch to my gti6 and it doesnt fit :( . i am planning to fit my 1.6 gti box to this engine , so i am guessing i will need to change the flywheel for a gti one? , a bit gutted really as i wanted to use the toothed flywheel from the gti6 for a crank signal .

is there another toothed flywheel that i can use to mate up a gti clutch/be1 box to my 6 or should i just use a std gti fly with a toothed wheel mounted on the crank pulley for my signal?

just seems like one thing after another with this conversion :D

A late 205 GTi one will have the timing teeth you need.

Hi

All you need is a mi16 cluch.

Theres no difference beteen mi16 flywheels and gti-6 flywheels from what ive seen, im using a mi16 clutch on my gti-6 engine. This will retain the timing teeth. If you use a mi16 clutch then all you need is a be1 release bearing, you should be able to specify what bearing comes with the clutch when ordering.

The XU7 flywheels take the 200mm clutch and have timing teeth, lighter than the Mi and XU10 ones too.

I used a BE-1 8v box on my gti6 at first. I dont think the box suits the engine very well, but you can always change later on....

I used the gti6 flywheel, a mi16 clutch and a be-1 bearing.

Do make sure your box can fit a tdc sensor before you fit it...

Keep the Gti6 flywheel and get an Mi16 clutch, which will take the power better than a smaller 8v clutch.

Gti-6 / MI16 Flywheel (they are the same) and then the mi clutch. I had loads of trouble getting the right clutch from Euro car parts so i suggest taking a flywheel in with you to get it as they kept supplying me push ones then pull ones then the wrong size ones. Was a complete head ache.

Just remember with the Mi clutch these all come with a BE3 release bearing as the operation was all the same regardless of BE1 or BE3, if you get stuck for a bearing let me know as I should have a few

yes it will come complete

mi is push clutch

check if you got the TDC sensor hole on top of the box first, because some very early boxes don't have the hole.
