Oil Pressure

hi every one ! did a track day at the weekend and after this on cold start up my oil pressure takes about 5 seconds mabby more to go up .on the track day the oil temps did get very high all most in the red .

no other problems only from cold start up once the pressure is up its all fine . any ideas on what it could be ?thanks 4 any help . o ment to say its a gti 1.6

Hi Chris and welcome to the forum..

 

You have really cooked your oil. I'd change it as soon as you can. It will have suffered badly and broken down.

 

Some poor quality oil filters have either no or a poor drain-back valve in them that can allow all the oil to run out of the filter back into the sump overnight. Thus on a cold start the pump has firstly to fill the filter before it can get pressure up. Change the filter. Try to get a Purflux filter as these are Pug OE spec and well recommended.

 

Finally, don't take too much notice of the pressure gauge. It is notoriously unreliable ;)
