Airbox For Use With Kms Throttle Bodies

Recommended Posts

mos

Hi,

i am looking to use an airbox instead of a standard foam air filter when i fit the KMS throttle bodies i am getting from QEP.

i have read quite a few posts/articles which have lead me to believe they are a better option than standard filters but if i am honest i am not too well up on them at all!

Problem, i am not sure who/where the best places to buy these.

also will any airbox fit any make of throttle bodies or will i have to get something specfic to the KMS stuff.

prices i have seen on demon tweeks range anything from £150ish to £300ish.

i know demon tweeks can be pricey so what better options are ther out there and what would be agood price to pay

thanks

Have you asked Matt @ QEP as he had an airbox on the shelf when I was there, a blue thing...

I got my airbox from here: http://www.auto-teknix.co.uk/roadelise.htm but had to make up my own back plate ;)

you know i never though to ask QEP, when i dropped my engine off with him a month or so ago an airbox was not in my plans. i will have to talk to him about it.

but that said does anyone know of any other good suppliers in case that doesnt work out

thanks

i have not got my hands on it yet

i am getting it all together with an engine he is building for me as a package price if you see what i mean.

that said when i originally emailed matt about the KMS stuff he informed me it would be circa £1600 + VAT for the complete throttle body/ecu kit including higher flow rated injectors (can't remember the exact spec)and all the other bits and pieces i would need including a 16v inlet manifold.

best checking for yourself but i pretty sure this must be the ball park

thanks

i attempt to lower the inlet temps i am also planning on fitting the radiator that robsbc and daz have fitted to there cars, i was impressed with the results rob achieved.

i am hoping that both the airbox and this together will achieve my aims, as well as the airbox keeping a lid on induction noise!

sorry bad joke!!!

thanks

hi, it's pretty easy to make your own air box.

if you make a mock-up out of cardboard you can give it to you local ally fabricators.

you'll be suprised how cheap they can do it for.

plus it will be a perfect fit. powder coat will cost about £15-25.

i recon about £80-150 for the box with pipe.

have a look at mine. here's the link.
