Rippthrough 98 Posted September 30, 2006 I've only had mine on a week or so, but I've noticed the outer edge of the tread blocks are wearing on the shoulders - now you expect some movement in the blocks but its at nearly 45 degrees, that's a lot of twisting, is that normal? -Phillip
M@tt 77 Posted September 30, 2006 my eagle F1's had this but i think it was because the trackign was out and so causing the tyre to drag at a funny angle. your tracking ok?

Rippthrough 98 Posted September 30, 2006 (edited) Trackings good - was done last week on a 4-wheel laser jig. Must be my driving Not worn on outer edge (but then I have some extra neg camber/castor on compared to stock) Surely a 45 degree chamfer shouldn't be normal though?! -Phillip Edited September 30, 2006 by Rippthrough
Alastairh 47 Posted September 30, 2006 I have had this. I've put it down to the following: my hard coilovers, my driving Local roundabouts being super fun on the way to work. I've since swapped to 309 stuff, and obviously wasn't soo bad as the camber. But since then replaced the drop links and notice a tiny bit difference aswell. Just my opion in what i've tried out. Alastair I would have thought that would just wear the shoulders of the tyres though, not the edges of all the tread blocks? When I got them the blocks where like this [], now they're starting to go /\ shaped, only done about 100 miles on them! Have to keep using them and see if they're still the same in a few weeks -Phillip Edited September 30, 2006 by Rippthrough
hengti 2 Posted September 30, 2006 have you been leaning on them already? new tyres will wear very quickly if you do
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted September 30, 2006 You haven't used the same tracking "Guru" as M@tt first did!! I think they set his car with 45 degree toe in!!! Tyres tend to act a bit funny when new and need to bed in a bit. I would also put it down to Sheffield roads too as they are not the best! Sounds daft, but as they are directional tyres, they are fitted going the right way?!

tom_m 0 Posted October 1, 2006 ashley peddle's f1s are worn like this, and mine aren't the major difference between our cars (both 1.9 8v) is that ash is running super stiff koni shocks and a cage and i am running uprated srings and torsion bars but standard~ish damping and no cage (yet). oh and ash's car has been tracked, whereas mine hasn't (yet) dunno if this helps any

Although mines not that hard tbh, cause I had it specced for sheffield potholes! -Phillip Edited October 2, 2006 by Rippthrough
Alastairh 47 Posted October 2, 2006 I dunno how its related, but how old are your drop links? Mine has stop doing it recently, and the only thing i can think thats stop making doing it is my new drop links, but as to how its related im unsure. Yeah tom i was baffled aswell, as i've eaten 1 eagle f1 since May, and James my mate who has exactly the same setup (309 all round, avos and f1s) wasn't getting it. Rippthrough 98 Posted October 2, 2006 Drop links are about 6 months old. be ready for a new pair soon, roads around here just seem to eat them for breakfast. Wish someone would make a decent quality set I could just fit once. Might have to make some. -Phillip

But @ £15 per set of droplinks every 6 months....
