Crappy Central Locking!

Recommended Posts

Enfield

Hi.

I replaced the batteries in my key fob the other day to get the remote locking working and it did, but only when it wants to.

It will sometimes work if you point up toward the sensor from the bottom of the drivers side or passenger side window but only sometimes. It will never work in the dark either lol.

I've taken the sensor apart and cleaned the dust off of it and put it back together and it's no better.

Very annoying to say the least.

Oh yeah and while I'm here...

When I first bought the car the immobiliser was working. When I turned the ignition off the immobiliser used to beep several times but now it does not...whats doing on there?

Fit a new alarm that can control the remote c/locking.

a lot of people on here fit the Toad Ai606.

You dont have to fit any new solenoids, though garages will say you have to.

Can any 205Gti that's got the standard key operated central locking be attached to an alarm that lets you use a keyfob to lock the doors?

I ask as my G reg has the normal key operated central locking and it also has an alarm with the remote locking function, but it has not been wired in to do so.

I've not looked into it, but assumed that as the car only central locks from the drivers door that the alarm fob would never get the drivers door to lock remotely, but may work on the passenger door and boot??

If the car has the black plastic ball next to the courtesy light then you can connect an alarm to the central locking to open them remotely. Providing the alarm has a function built in to controll the input signal. AFAIK Toad do a cheaper version to the Ai606 thats does this) (I paid about £150 for my Ai606 about 2 years ago)

They might even have a newer range now.

The garage I took mine to said I needed to buy new solenoids for the doors and boot as the c'locking wouldn't operate from the passanger door and boot with just the key.

I was told on here it could be done with the original solenoids (actuators really). They were right.

I ended up fitting the alarm myself, I had to buy it off ebay though as no one would just sell me the alarm. :D .
