My New Facet Silver Competition Fuel Pump

Recommended Posts

driversdomainuk

Hi

I have just ordered a Facet Silver Competition fuel pump which is up to 200bhp use more than enough to power my 8v on twin 45s. I am replacing it as the original facet fuel pump has been on the car I think around 9 years and as I am rebuilding the engine, I want to make sure its reialible.

Will I need to replace the King Regulator as this new pump requires around 6-6.5psi where as the one I had only needed 4-4.5psi cant remember at this moment but I even think 4-4.5psi is sort of stamped on the edge of the King Regulator, which leads me to believe I may need to bin the current one.

thanks

The regulator is supposed to bring the pressure of the pump down because the floats of the carbs can only hold back about 5psi iirc, if to high a pressure is used the carbs stand a chance of flooding.

The new pump doesn't require 6-6.5 psi it's what it will pump when running, the regulator is fitted after the pump to reduce the fuel pressure.

Thanks mate - I did not know that to be honest. So in effect I did not need to bother with a Silver Competition pump as only a certain degree of fuel will be needed anyhow...??

Yup :D

It will work fine and probably have a better flow rate than your old pump which is a plus point.
