speedy indy 0 Posted September 27, 2006 Have searched the forum but cant find out what i need to know Have managed to dismantle mine.... Basically the beam itself (into which the rear (inner and outer) bearings go) is buggered... Trailing arms/splines/torsion bars are fine...... Question is.... is the beam bit the same as any other 205's ? Cannot get hold of another 1.9Gti with a decent beam.....
maturin23 10 Posted September 27, 2006 Yes - you can use beam tube from one of the shopping trolley models. It's the arb and thickness of the torsion bars that make the difference on the GTI
welshpug 1,657 Posted September 27, 2006 best to just buy a new beam, £300 from the dealers, including bearings. make sure that the stub axles on the trailing arms are good though, as any imperfection or wear will eat through the new bearings in no time. You can use any base model tube - as said use the GTi torsion bars and anti roll bars, to keep the GTi handling. Id go hunting round your local scrap yard than paying £300 Good luck Andy
speedy indy 0 Posted September 28, 2006 How is the beam itself buggard? The beam tube has split on one end.....
