Adnic69 0 Posted September 25, 2006 I have looked but can't see anything on it. Does a Renault 172 Clio engine drop in easily? I am probably jumping to conclusions as it's french and similar to a 205. If it did what a great engine it would be!
Jonmurgie 2 Posted September 25, 2006 It's been said before about other engines... ANYTHING can be made to fit in the 205 but it comes down to time and most of all money TBH, there seems little point as the Mi16 and GTi6 engine drop stragiht in and give similar power out the box
pug_life 0 Posted September 25, 2006 I believe mr peddlesworth has a 182 engine sat next to a 205 and he's measuring up to see if its plausible. will remind him to try fitting it and see what its like
mbayley77 0 Posted September 25, 2006 I measured up my scooby engine roughly and i reckon that would fit between the chassis legs but that bulkheads gonna have to go
Adnic69 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Yeah I know that with time and money you could make most things fit. I just thought if it was a straight or nearly then it would be better as its new technology. MI16 is old and it's getting hard to find a good one.
smckeown 1 Posted September 25, 2006 i dont think the clio engines suffer the oil issues that the mi16s do either..lucky gits!
inferno 1 Posted September 25, 2006 i seem to remember thinking the same thing when i had a 16v p2 clio. the engine top and box mount look pretty good, but im pretty sure there was no rear mount and instead there is a more substantial cross member under the rad and 2 rubber mounts, so not a straight fit but nothing too stressful. assuming the 182 mounts the same! also be aware that the clios ive had all threw the bolts that go through the mount. welshpug 1,657 Posted September 25, 2006 nah, sod the clio engine, use an EW10...
Rom 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Id stick with a peugeot lump personally. Dont think the 172 will drop in that easily. Theres plenty of peugeot engines that will make that figure. As for the tecnology side, its a 205. If its not breaking down, something is wrong
