mbayley77 0 Posted September 25, 2006 I would like to know what the difference is between the 307 (53 plate onwards) 90 BHP diesel turbo and the 110 BHP version. And also i believe the 138BHP version. Is it just the ECU which is different or are there actually mechanical variants which determine the power differences. hengti 2 Posted September 25, 2006 not sure about the 307, but the 306HDi is 90bhp, whilst the same engine in the contemporary 406 was 110bhp. the difference being that the 306 engine wasn't intercooled. not sure if this is still the same engine though, or if that's still the reason for the difference. maturin23 10 Posted September 25, 2006 I think the 136PS engine is the recent engine design jointly developed between PAS and Ford. Ford call it the 2.0 Duratorq. It's a fundamentally new deisign and not the same as the previous pug diesel engines - goes well enough in my Focus with something like 240lb/ft availble on overboost. There are quite a few stories of EGT and part throttle mapping issues which have resulted in new engines being fitted - this is both Ford and PAS, but mine has been pretty good do far (touches wood!) ablister 31 Posted September 26, 2006 110 has an intercooler and 90 does not. Also 110 has dual mass flywheel (which squeek alot) whereas 90 has normal flywheel.
