Couldn't someone just take apart a used one? Then we also get to see what condition the components are in by the time they're finished with.

According to the comparison chart near the bottom the Honda filter is actually made by Purflux.

Where do you guys find purflux oil filters apart from Peugeot's?

I have been looking for them with no luck on part websites such as pugspares, eurocarparts, GSF...

I bought a couple from Eurocarparts a while back and the ones that arrived were purflux. Only £2-3 each iirc.

I heard that they've changed their suppliers now though, so it might be worth ringing them to check.

I used to buy them from them but as you said they changed suppliers.

Actually it seems that pugspares still do them :)

Certainly was a good find :) I'm surprised how well the champion came out though: Most stuff I do has replaceable paper elements and not canisters so you can see how much filter area you are getting. On that basis Champion usually turns out to be the worst by far - so much so that I won't buy champion filters. A filter for an early Bristol for example is conical in shape. The Champion element for a Bristol is cylindrical in shape and has a diameter equal to the small end of the cone on an OE element. You don't need to measure it to see how much less area there is!

On peugeots I would normally use the Purflux filters I can buy in my local motor factors . I had just bought a 309D & I was giving it an oil & filter change . The motor factors were out of stock of Purflux filters so he gave me a different brand . After the oil change I noticed that the oil light didn't go out for a few seconds during a cold start . Tried a different oil pressure switch & a different grade of oil but problem persisted . Swopped over to a Purflux filter & problem was cured ! The non return valve in the other filter wasn't doing its job . :)
