matt1900 0 Posted September 23, 2006 I just finished putting the head back on my 1.9, and i started getting problems with my oil pressure gauge and water temperature gauge not reading any thing. i went straight to the engine loom which i'd noticed looked a bit of a mess before, and moved it about a bit and the gauges came back up again. so there seems to be a dodgy connection round the brown multiplug area, i disconnected it and cleaned it and the earth points on the gearbox, then repositioned the loom so it wouldn't rub. alas the problem still remains, it's ok at the mo but only till the loom gets disturbed. if it turns out that my engine loom is shagged, does any one no the best way of aquiring one and how much they go for? bearing in mind im not a big fan of scrap yards. cheers people, any advise much appreciated. jim21070 2 Posted September 23, 2006 Replacement of the brown multi-plug is the best thing you can do.
Guest Morty Posted September 27, 2006 I located one through a chap who is stripping one for parts.... He was the guy who did most of the work on my car before I started to do it myself, A mechanic who was listed as a gti specialist locally(ish). Got any of those round your way..? I know one or two places that you could try.. But are you looking for a recommendation or just some hints of where you could look..?

steve@cornwall 100 Posted September 27, 2006 chop it out Got one off ebay- cost £25 took an age to find a broken wire off the afm which made it overfuel and smoke like fcuk! (probably why the car got broken?) If you don't want the possibility of buying someone else's problem make sure you get a known good 'un- pref see the car running before the strip. (think a loom is still available new, although £350+ !!!!!! for about £30 worth of components)
