Adnic69 0 Posted September 22, 2006 I have looked but can't find anything relating to four pot calipers and pedal travel. I have just bled the alcons I bought from Stew205 on here. I dont think i have any air in the system. The pedal travel is huge, goes a long way down. This is going to be slightly biased as I am use to the Elise brakes. People that have fitted four pots, have you changed the master cylinder?
Anthony 1,003 Posted September 22, 2006 For what it's worth, Alan's 205 with 406 23mm and Wilwood 4-pots had no more travel than the standard brake setup If you're keeping with the standard MC then you will have longer travel, no question.
Adnic69 0 Posted September 22, 2006 Are they a pain to change?
Daxed 7 Posted September 22, 2006 Nope, straight swap. Might need to adjust the length of the actuating rod. You need a non ABS one, 4 port.
TEKNOPUG 3 Posted September 22, 2006 M/C are easy to change - providing the nuts haven't seized. You have to match the M/C to the piston size though. Just saying "4 pots" is little use.
saveloy 8 Posted September 24, 2006 Your pedal must feel mushy feel as if it's actually connected to nothing. You will need to swap to a non ABS 4 port M/C, as suggested already. Firstly, how large are the caliper pistons? I'm using Hi - Spec 4 pots with 39mm pistons. I have a 24.5mm M/C (the largest they do) and the pedal is solid. It's far better than standard. So, if you have pistons upto 41mm or so, you sholud find a good progreesive pedal.
smckeown 1 Posted September 24, 2006 M/C size is dependent on your caliper piston size. I use a 23.8mm 405 non-abs M/C on my hi-spec 4 post and the pedal feel and preogressive nature of the brakes is phenominal
saveloy 8 Posted September 25, 2006 I made a mistake up there. I use a 23.8mm M/C. A 24.5mm item does not exist.
