Oil Filler Correct Placement And Pipe Routing

Recommended Posts

Guest myrichdad

Hiya,

Oil filler pipe has eroded away and has been put by someone up the front left of the engine by the alternator.

Oil filler housing is in approx right place but.....

Should the part with the hole fit on the bolt off the inlet manifold or should the u shaped locator sit under the throttle cable housing or the bolt above that. Does it sit at an angle?

I can see the small breather hose from the cap goes back to the sad area and the top large hose is connected ok too. where does the oil filler pipe actually come up through that cramped space under the fller....? Any pictures? Do you have to take the manifold off to get it right.

Next job is to drain down and replace oil but I need to have new filler pipe in place and in the right place before refill.

All help / pictures very much appreciated.

no need to drain the oil as it doesnt come up over the level of the filler.

Yeah I've seen the diagram on a search I did on the site, and it is helpful, but it seems like there is an awful lot of componentry between the block oilway entry/exit and where the oil filler body sits.

Diagram shows a direct route up....I can't see one!!! :)

I hope to have secured a new filler pipe next week. Going to replace the oil anyway. 'Cos it's low and because it's been sat there for ages.

Can anyone see what their filler body is actually attatched too. mine was lose and I can't figure out where it came from, but location is correct from picture from above engine that i have seen.

Bolts to the inlet manifold with a large hex nut.

Then a piece curls around an allen key bolt - on the throttle body I think??
