Caliper Slider Replacement

Recommended Posts

Anton green

Ive been told 'no thats not the problem! -replace that!' by a few supposedly knowledgeable people. Problem is, when I brake occasionally the brakes give off quite a bad juddering. The juddering can be felt quite harshly through the steernig wheel, but the rack is all held together nicely and fastened down tightly. This isnt the wishbones bushes, or balljoints. The track rods are perfect too, and everything is bolted up tightly. So what else could this be apart from the sliders on the calipers up front?

Unless I hear a 'Dont do that whatever you do!' from someone on this forum Ill be swapping the sliders for some I have on a spare set of calipers in the near future.. So is anybody going to tell me not to do it or something else it could actually be!?

How new are the pads/discs? Juddering obviously tends to be warped discs, though this does seem uncommon on the 205

buy new ones, easy to fit and you get new seals and fresh special grease to squidge in there too, Got some for my mum's 405 ages ago from pug but i cant remember how much they were.

Oh yeah, the pads and discs are fine too!

I'll probably ask at peugeot when I next pass by (being sure to take the chassis number and telling them its on a change over year for the umteenth time!)

Going to have to remember if my calipers are girling or bendix -I'll have a receipt for pads somewhere I can check tho

Check the sliders before you replace them. Just peel back the rubber cover and see what condition they're in.

You can also manually push the caliper on the slider if you remove the brake disc.
