New Engine Mount

Recommended Posts

notamondayfan

hey all

just changed my lower engine mount (this time gone for a baker mount as my last standard one only lasted about a month!)

anyway, just took the car out for a spin, and theres a lot of vibrations going on! i mean i can feel it through my seat, steering wheel, pedals, floor, etc. doesnt happen at idle, but does between around 2k and 4k, then it goes quiet again.

im 99.9% positive ive tightened everything, and the car drives perfectly.

is this common with uprated mounts, or am i missing something?

thanks, dean

Yep, that's normal. Just fitted an uprated mount to my XS and I'm getting the same thing. At 2K, the whole dash vibrates, especially the coin tray lid! Not too bothered by it though (actually quite like it in a strange sort of way... :P ). I think the harshness will reduce over time as the mount wears in, too.

I fitted BBM mounts all round and the vibration is fairly strong but the improvement to handling/performance is excellent. I could not go back to the standard mounts now. I just hope the dash doesnt shake itself to bits!

Try a search on vibration/noise as there's been a couple of threads on it recently... it will be stiff with lots of vibration for a good few hundred miles, but it generally does calm down after a while :P

Yes mine is the same, but again I like it, the car seems alot more stable and planted on the road.

And yes alot of people say they take time to soften up.
