Just Had To Abandon My Pug :(

Well, I have had a few exhaust problems lately

see this brief post! http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=64298

Now, I have bodged it together with my old back box and copious amounts of exhaust paste. Working fine ( if not a little noisy) ( had just agreed to collect new system this weekend from fellow forum member) until now, just nipped out.... car started kangarooing, power died, stop light on, game over... coasted into side street hazards on ( at chucking out time.. ) and landed near a pub car park ( small on main road) 5 drunk men wander by giggling,,., of course do frail woman 'help me stupid things broke look'.... pushed into car park, kind of, ( they started off by pushing me back down the main road.... jesus, I long for one sober man at this point...) anyway, repeated attempts to restart fail then the dread sets in as I remember RAC cover expired less than a month ago... anyways, I look under the car to see full exhaust system about 2 inches off the floor and the throttle pedal is nearly stuck to the floor with little to no movement,,, disgruntled and lacking in cigarettes ... I walk home, ( luckily only 15 minutes away) so there she is... shiny and alone stuck in a pub car park! Next step???? answers on a postcard please or preferably replies to this topic.

Cheers

Michelle

Open bonnet and find out why throttle is stuck to floor?

Normally a dropped exhaust can be strapped up with a few lengths of wire just to get home or you could just hack saw it off as you are that close to home. Get someone to bring a jack or just some big blocks to lift the car...

Check that the re-positioned exhaust hasn't melted the loom / oil pressure light wire (stop light) and/or dragged the loom downward- bringing throttle cable with it! (Really hope not!)

Has the engine dropped?

This would take the exhaust, cables and other things with it

(and would probably take something with it which would make the car cut out)
