406 Master Cylinder

Recommended Posts

driversdomainuk

Just checking our parts system at work and have found Delphi part LM80154 is the 23.81mm dia. Master Cylinder for all Peugeot 406's with out ABS

I take it this is the one I need to fit onto my 205 GTI..?

Also will this MC fit on to the standard 205 servo...? and I take it the brake pipe size will be un effected..?

Thanks.

Can't confirm your part numbers, but if for some reason you need a M/C with a bigger bore (larger brakes fitted perhaps) then the non ABS 406 is indeed the one to try.

The non ABS is 4 port, will fit directly to the 205 servo, but may require some minor adjustment of the actuating rod.

Cheers

what is the actuating rod - and is this easy and safe to modify. Also is it always easy to do this..?

It might fit, afaik some of the later 406 mc's have the mounting flange at an angle so the reservoir is sat on its side when fitted to a 205. :(

the reservoir sat on it side...?? surely not :)

Are there realy significant benefits of going for the 406 MC or is the standard 205GTI one fine?

I think pugtorque means that the later models (1998 and on) have the mounting holes to bolt it to the servo in a diagonal way. The earlier ones have them horizontal.

It is, maybe I didn't explain it very well.

Made perfect sense to me though.

I've drven cars with the 306 GTi-6 brakes fitted on a standard mc & didn't think the pedal travel was excessive but it depends on what you're used to & how you like your pedal feel. Instant or with a little travel before heavy braking for easier modulation.

Graham.
