M@tt 77 Posted September 9, 2006 yes a quick shift actually works there are 2 ways of doing it 1) extend the bottom of the gearstick (this shortens the front to back movement but not the side to side.) 2) fit a shortened L bracket which bolts onto the subframe (i believe this shortedn the travel in all directions) also might be worth putting new gear selector rods on at the same time as this will tighten things up nicely as well There are a few people on here that either do or can make you these if you use the search button you'll come up with plenty of info HTH
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 9, 2006 Sounds more like the gearlinkage rod's are worn out or badly adjusted, this can be done by looking down the back of the engine/gearbox and you'll see the 2 rods which can be adjusted to suit the gearlever position. The other place to check is the subframe mount of the linkage, One under the cap on the 'L' lever and the Ball under the long thick rod from the gearlever which is a 13mm nut which can work loose

Guest ashnicholls Posted September 13, 2006 Check those, but still fit a short shift kit. Transforms the feel of the gear change. Shorter and more precise.
