2.0mi16/s16 Wiring

Recommended Posts

allanallen

my 2.0 mi is all fitted into my car now and i'm seriously struggling with the wiring. I have the starter motor working and the fuel pump is coming on as you turn it over (via the big double relay). The idle control valve is also buzzing, and i believe i have the k-light wired in (althogh the lights never lit up on the dash). I dont however have a spark! I dont actually know if i have the ecu powering up.

I'm sure i must nearly be there but does anyone know which pins on the ecu need connecting to at least let the engine run. any help is much appreciated. al

Hi Mate I was led to beleive S16 wiring was similar to the 2.0L Turbo!

I'll try and help if i can

Is it running MP3.2?and does it have an inertia switch?

Do you have the ECU pinouts and wiring diagrams?

Sounds like your missing switch live to ECU at a guess...

it doesn't have an inertia switch and its running the mp3.2.

I've got the peugeot wiring diagrams with the ecu pinouts. al

Well on mine pin 27 of the ECU needs a switch live usually via the keypad.

If the ICV is buzzing then you got 12volts to the loom.

Are all the earths connected?

its quite easy to wire one of these up

find all your wiring numbers, and they follow a pattern (as in any later pug engine)

80.. wires are aircon

CC are switchable live

will dig you the rest out tomorrow if you want them

hello again.. i am also in the process of putting a s16 into a 205 i have 2 looms.. the 405mi and a 306 s16 i have opted to fit the 306 but only have the wiring for the 405 so the multi plug wire positions may differ..

if you have a 306 loom

if you have 306 s16 loom and the round multiplug on the engine loom

cc1 pin 5 is 12 ign live from switch... make sure it does not drop to 0v while cranking

123 pin 6 is fuel pump 12v

if it is a 405 mi16 3.2 late engine loom

the cc1 is the 12v ign pin 2 which then could change to cc17 and cc8

the fuel pump is wire 121 pin17

the 306/405 may have a key pad imob and may need the code to run

but if ecu is unlocked and the 12v main feed is to the bat and a good earth is there it will start

if not it is locked and th imob will have to be wired in to unlock

pin 27 has a switched live but the car didn't have a keypad.

hello again jim, the engines from a late 405.

if cc1 is the thickish blue wire that feeds the double relay, i've got it connected

ive got my k light connected to wire 480 on the 405 loom which comes from pin 2 and 13 on the ECU.

I have power to all the coils and injectors, theres also power at the cylinder reference sensor.

at the ECU end i have a switched live at pin 3, constant live at pin 18 and an earth at pin 19.

I am however missing a vehicle speed interface unit, Not sure if i need this???

cheers for the help so far guys, keep it cummin i'm sure i can get this sorted with all your help. al

the vehicle speed reference is not needed

but the engine speed is needed this is the sensor in the top of the box taking reference from the flywheel.

have you changed the flywheel? is it the mi16

all the wires on your last post were correct, so it must be close

ive had the box off to check the clutch before i fitted it, but i made sure i connected everything back up. I'm assuming its the brown plug. can this be checked in any way. cheers al

yes it is like a abs sensor

get a multimeter on ac voltage connect the two probes to the conector and turn it over

you should get a voltage that rises as it turns over then settles... not open circuit

even better if you have a oscillerscope setting on the multimeter it will show a wave form and a dip at tdc

this sensor is how the ecu knows where tdc is

if it dont see the voltage and tick at tdc it wont start

use a remote wire to give the start call then you can be under the bonnet and turn it over

12v main feed is to the bat and a good earth is there it will start

sorted now!!! School boy error, i had the ignition modules earthed to the body. I moved the earths directly to the battery and hey presto, Fired up first turn!!!

thanks for the help guys, specially jim, al (happy chappy)
