mos 1 Posted September 9, 2006 hi, i am trying to decide which of the three gearboxes i have here to use in my 2.2 s16 conversion. i have a standard 1.6 box, standard1.9 or standard 2.0ltr s/mi16 box the 2.0ltr box is from either 2.0 S16 or Mi16 not sure which (Dazza can you help, as its the one i got from you.) the question is are the s16 and 2.0lt mi16 the same ratios as each other and are these boxes the same ratios as the earlier 1.9Mi16 boxes? which box would you guys recommend for use in my project? or is a hybrid box of some description the way forward? thanks mark
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 9, 2006 All the 16v boxes, from BE1 to the Late BE3R's are the same ratio's, You need to be careful if the box has been changed in the past which happen's allot, You should see what assortment of ratio's I get For the type of box you need, What is the car being used for etc? Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 9, 2006 With the extra torque you'll get I can;t see why the 1.9 box wouldn't suit your needs really as a easy find, It's not difficult to change the box so give it ago a see if you like it, As every one has different needs
