Recommended Posts

pug309twin40s

looks like a normal 1.9 8v camshaft.

performance cams usually have markings on the dizzy end of them.

I've just look at a standard cam I have in a head downstairs & it has the 68 stamped in a similar place (next to #3 cylinder lobes) & between the lobes for #2 it also has 38 which Ithink are mentioned on the PSOOC topic.

Looks like a standard French import cam :P to me though, especially with the standard pulley.

Graham.

Thought so.

The pics are from someone who is selling a cam bought from LAD. Its the famous French cam mentioned above.

I wonder how many people have been ripped off so far based on this special import from france cam.

No idea but I've suggested that the cam should be taken back to the retailer and shoved somewhere.

Short of confirming it by measurement it's a standard 1.9 cam going by the lobe shape and casting numbers. The 1.6 has chamfered lobes, Kent and Piper cams have different machining and lobe shapes and anyway they'd be stamped with the part number. Catcams have a completely different casting and a ridge near the edge of each side of the lobe.

Worth about a tenner in most parts of the country except a small section of the north-west coast where they go for about £300 provided you supply your own identical one in exchange first.

Only the early 1.6's cam's have this, from around 1991/2 they went to the full lobe as per the 1.9

If that's the case then I've never seen one but then I see very few 1.6's compared to the number of 1.9's I modify.
