Guest jimfai Posted September 4, 2006 hello all, new memeber here, very new to pugs in general since i live in the states. i have basically and early 90's or late 80's 1.6gti from what i can tell. this car was basically mated into a mini body and i bought it and brought it over and have been finishing it off. i have contacted the seller many times, not real helpful, but never been able to contact the builder so what i know about the car i have deduced. i am swapping the motor with an MI16 in a few months so i will have more questions but i have a few specific ones now that i hope you all can help with. the gauge pod, my speedo works, the tach works, the blinker indicators work as well as the high beem and running lights indicator. the oil pressure works but i have no reading on the water temp, oil temp or fuel level and i have no dash lights in the pod but they do work on the heater panel and hazard switch. i have taken out the pod and checked the connections at the top on the 4 plugs as per the haynes, i am getting power when the light switch is on, i have good ground, i get a reading on the volt meter from the fuel sending unit and i installed a new one just a couple months ago as the old one had coroded away. i have an extra pod and it works the same when i plug it in, so i think this answers this question, my haynes shows i should have 2 ground wires i think? but i only have a plug for one? any suggestions would be appreciated. next, what is the fuel capacity for a 205gti tank? the tank if fiberglass which seems like a really great idea to me. Rom 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Hi. According to Haynes, the fuel tanks hold 50 ltrs. A search might unviel something. Is it running the 16v loom? Im pretty sure the pros on here will be able to help.
Guest jimfai Posted September 5, 2006 thanks for the reply, i believe the loom is the 1.6gti, i will remove a lot of it as the MI16 has carbs, i am dumping the injection as from what i have read the carb engines get more performance and less troubles, jim
