Has anyone used this tyre: http://www.bfgoodrich.co.uk/bfguk/front/af...RODUCT1&lang=EN

The company is bought by Michelin, was wondering if it's any good or should I stay away from it?

At the moment I am having Michelin pilot exaltos II which grip and wear well but would like to try something else for a change.

I need somehting that grips well in both wet and dry but don't care about wear so much.

Yup - used both them and the compound before.

Best overall road tyres - not the best on wet or dry grip but overall very good unlike those tyres great at one and s*ite at other - also very predictable, good protection for rims, never felt lacking, worked ok on track and best of all long lasting. I got 27k out of a pair on the front followed by 3 track days, yet they never felt too hard or lacked grip.

Boombang, what other tyres have you tried and you compare them with ?

I have currently done 15-20k on my michelins (rotating them) and they are about half worn (apart from the sidewalls that became smooth after a couple of trackdays).

Other options would be Eagle GSD03 and Bridgestones RE070/S03.

Any more choices welcome :D

yup, had some on the front of a 306 DTurbo, nice predictable handling and were pretty quiet, and as Alex said they have decent sidewalls that protect the rim ( i managed to put a hole in the side of one on a big rock but the rim was untouched)

Had Eagle F1's, Toyo Proxes T1-S, Yoko 539s, Uniroyal Rainsports, Pirelli P600s, Maxxis Surpassas, a variety of other budget tyres, and another one of the branded supposed to be good tyres (IIRC that bald twat from Fast Car used to run them about 8 years ago!).

As I said they aren't the BEST tyre in the dry or the wet but they are overall very very good.

I prefered the old Profiler-Gs but the later compound is grippier at the expense of a few miles. I only managed 10k on Gfroce profilers before I sold the car are you could see the increased wear over the profiler-gs but they were still very good and suppose the increase in dry grip was worthwhile.

Reckon over 15k on them if your sensible - As I said I got 27k then a few trackday on the old ones but I tend to drive very smoothly.

I haven't tried many tyres, but I have tried and extensively driven on Goodyear GSD3 F1 Eagles, Toyo T1-S and T1-R's.

I highly recommend that you do not buy the Toyos.

My T1-S's gripped alright were cheap, lasted not bad.

My T1-R's felt inconsitent compared to the S's, rounded off very quickly from hard cornering and lasted for no time at all.

The Eagles are far better than both Toyos. They lasted longer and grip far far better than the T1-R's in both rain and dry. I had the T1-S first, then Eagles, then T1-R's then onto my current Eagles again.

I've learned through hard experience that its false economy to buy the Toyos over Eagles. Plus they don't grip.
