huzzer 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Has anyone had diff bearings fail on them before? I lost a bit of gearbox oil from the nearside driveshaft when fitting lowering springs on my 1.9, I didnt think id lost too much and drove at motorway speeds for an hour after. After pulling away from traffic slowly in first there was a horrible low grinding noise from the gearbox which I could also feel through the gear lever. After standing for an hour waiting for RAC man it then behaved normally again? He thought it was the diff bearings but I would have thought they would have been still immersed in oil. Any thoughts?
