Baz 421 Posted September 4, 2006 I get FRAM's from my wholesale supplier, Maccess in Woodford, but i think they're a franchised chain.
bitchass 205 0 Posted September 4, 2006 (edited) yes, i got a fram oil filter and air filter from car parts and accessories from Eastbourne. edit: your nearest is Lewes i guess, unless eastbourne is closer. Lewes: 01273 487828 £3.02 or Eastbourne: 01323410817 Edited September 4, 2006 by bitchass
Jonmurgie 2 Posted September 4, 2006 Does it matter what brand of oil filter you get?
smckeown 1 Posted September 4, 2006 yes apparently there's a difference between short life and long life ones. Assuming short life ones offer more filtration
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted September 4, 2006 Or have less filter surface area so clog up more rapidly...
ablister 31 Posted September 4, 2006 surely the long life ones will have the finer filtration for the longer service intervals
pugrallye 0 Posted September 4, 2006 (edited) longlife filters are designed for 5w 30 oils, so have finer filtration and designed for 20k mile changes, you can get fram filters from any motor factors (except motor parts direct who deall with crossland), but even purflux will have longlife filters to cope with new peugeots which will utilise flexible servcing Edited September 4, 2006 by pugrallye
saveloy 8 Posted September 4, 2006 FRAN oil filters are rubbish. This is well documented. It isn't uncommon to find that their bypass valves are plastic. Use a decent filter instead. Stick to Parflux or AC Delco, et al.
Capn. Pugwash 0 Posted September 6, 2006 I just noticed this on a Ferrari forum: http://www.tomyang.net/cars/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1599 Basically they think Frams *look* the best (pfft) but have seen them fail numerous times. Apparently they have a cardboard standpipe (?) inside as opposed to a plastic one meaning they can give way internally without you knowing
saveloy 8 Posted September 7, 2006 Yep, they are rubbish. I'd rather use an old sock and an elastic band than a Fram filter.
Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted September 9, 2006 FRAM is rubbish. Use Purflux Peugeot original items instead: 1109 N2
cybernck 402 1 Cars Posted September 9, 2006 Use Purflux Peugeot original items instead: 1109 N2 yep, that's what i use too. and being cheap from peugeot too, i change them with every oil change.
