Oil Pressure Warning Temp Guage Warning

Recommended Posts

NoodleVille

ok now my oil pressure guage i believe doesnt work as i wiggle the lead to the sensor it blips in the cabin then falls again the temp guage is generally a bit high but nothing drastic as of recent.

when i take a corner a bit quick ie i am smoking a saxo on my eagle f1's my stop light comes on and both my oil pressure sensor warning light and temp guage warning light light up

the temp guage warning light will come on but the temp might be not even at middle of the guage

this problem has no seen relation to revs or temperature

happens only under heavy braking or putting it into a bend.

any ideas very wierd problem never had anything like this before on any car lol

the temp light always comes on with the oil pressure/stop light.

sounds like you may be low on oil...

Chances are that your pressure is low for some reason as I had the same thing a while back that turned out to be a clogged pump. Try changing the pressure sender first, if you're cheap then any off an XU or XUD will do the job so a scrapyard 406 or similar will be a good place to get one.

Like jackherer say's, I'd def check the oil level first. Many years ago, my first car, a 1.6gti, had almost the same problem. I say almost, as you mention your oil pressure gauge is'nt working, so you cant say if your oil pressure is falling off at the same time the lights come on, as mine was? On mine, the pressure would fall, and lights come on under breaking and cornering, and iirc, was worst on left hand corners. A topup with fresh oil fix'd the problem, and the reason my oil levels were low in the first place was worn stem seals. Once replaced, i gave that car 4 years of thrash and she never let me down or use a single drop of oil again :) I still to this day really regret selling that car

Would'nt have thought so, but i'd get the leak sorted anyway.

Does the oil light work ok when you turn the ignition on? and does it go out nice and quick when you start the car from cold first thing in the morning? Maybe worth checking the sender, and also the wiring from the sender, as if theres a break somewhere, and the wires moving & earthing when you corner or brake, then this would put the oil & stop light on.

Falling this, then as someone else said, maybe the oil pump's on it's way, or maybe the oil pick-up's blocked in the sump. I assume, as you dont mention it, that the engine is'nt making any nasty noise's or knocks?

Probably best to take it easy till you find the cause mate.

fitting the simetek supplied plug solved the starting problem as well as many other running issues as I mentioned in the thread.

dont cut off too much cable as there isnt that much to spare.
