Do I Have A Faulty Servo?

Recommended Posts

tidypug

This is starting to be a bit worrying as i can't really trust my brakes at the moment so i hope i can sort it soon.

The problem i have is that when driving along if i have to press the brakes more than a couple of times the brake pedal goes rock hard and there is pretty much no brake assistance. If i rev the engine the brake assistance returns but the same will happen again.

Check the vacuum tube to the servo isn't leaking first. To test the servo, pump the pedal a few times with the engine off, then with the pedal held down start the engine and the pedal should sink down a bit, also with the engine running, rapidly press the pedal a few times and the engine revs should rise.

Also check the vacuum pipe between the servo and inlet doesn't collapse with a high vacuum.

3 Things...

Check the piping as stated (prob issue)

Check for signs of old ecotek unit fitment,

Check the Sunroof Vacuum piping.

Otherwise, Assistance has been lost, stand on them though and you WILL stop. Get worried, left foot brake, that'll stop you better as the left leg pushes harder than the right, odd but strangley true.
