jackherer 543 Posted September 1, 2006 Am I right in thinking that 1.9 Mi16 belts have 133 teeth and 2.0 Mi16 have 134? Is using a 2.0 belt on a 1.9 going to bend the valves? It seems to have killed the compression, right down to between 20 and 80 psi across all four It remains timed correctly after many rotations so is there any chance I'll get away with just fitting the correct belt? Anthony 1,003 Posted September 1, 2006 Can't see that would cause the problem, so long as there was still enough adjustment on the tensioners to tension the belt correctly - if the timing holes line up after a few turns then it won't be the belt causing the issue. If all the timing holes definately line up correctly - check and double check this - then it's got to be that you bent some valves somehow Or, just another thought - you've a dodgy compression tester that reads very low (or just doesn't seal properly) and the fault stopping the engine running lies elsewhere?
