Guest Darragh Posted September 1, 2006 Hey there! its been doing it for a while and now im really getting tired of it as it is pretty dangerous. if i am driving along the road on half throttle and then give it full it feels as though the front wobbles slightly. and then the other day i was going round a long right hander on half throttle then i nailed it and it pulled to the right quite violently making me correct the direction so i dont have a head on. it does it at high speeds too on any kind of surface: if i lift off it changes direction, and when i put my foot down it wants to change direction. Has any one had this before?? what was it that was wrong? Cheers
Anthony 1,003 Posted September 1, 2006 Pulling one way when you open the throttle and the other way when you let off is classic symptoms for a knackered wishbone bush.
wildejon 7 Posted September 1, 2006 (edited) When I last had a problem like that it was the alignment... Could deffo be your lower arms bushes too, that also helped when mine was feeling a bit unstable! Edited September 1, 2006 by wildejon
luggy 13 Posted September 1, 2006 (edited) Hi Darragh First thing to do is jack the front left wheel off the floor, and try and move the wheel to the left and right, with somenone holding onto the steering. If theres play then its a good possibility the wishbone ball joint is knackered, if it doesnt then it could be the wishbones bushes.Do the same to the other side and also check the condition of your track rod ball joints and arb droplinks as well. I had exactly the same problem on my car about 3 years ago turns out it was the front left wishbone ball joint. Guest Darragh Posted September 1, 2006 WOW! thanks for your swift replies! the wishbones were brand spanking at the start of this year which is wierd. The ball joints should be fine as i had a look at them last weekend and they seemed to be pretty good. they still had a fair amount of stiffness in them as i moved them around. however i did not look at the bushes. is it possible to change the bushes on the wishbones?? whats evan more of a pain in the ass is that the wishbones were under warranty but the company i bought them from (A.R.E.ltd) have just gone bust and cannot replace them! POO!
Anthony 1,003 Posted September 1, 2006 I've had wishbone bushes fail in less than 2000 miles on new wishbones before now, so don't let the fact that they're only 9 months old fool you into thinking that they'll definately be OK. You can replace the bushes on their own, and the genuine Peugeot ones (which seem to last well) are £15 for both sides, and polybushes (that also seem to be lasting well on my car, although some people have had problems with them failing prematurely) are about £25 for both sides
Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted September 1, 2006 Although you don't mention that fitting genuine bushes is not fun, or removing them for that matter. Rob

notamondayfan 44 Posted September 4, 2006 ive had this problem loads. first time it was the bushes, but 2nd time it was the pinch bolt coming loose!! the threads on the bolt were nackered like. might be worth trying before splashing out on new wishbones.
