Mi16 Sump And Oil In Plugs

Recommended Posts

philfingers

I bought an Mi16 motor yesterday. The compression checks were about 180, 180, 170 and 190 across 4,3,2, & 1. There was oil lying in the spark plug holes, what casues this? and what do I do to fix it. The guy i bought the engine from seemd to think there were o rings in there as well as the rocker cover gasket.

The sump is also possibly leaking. It's an alloy sump with fine ribs in it. Is this an a/c sump or a std one. If I have to replace the gaskets on the sump is there one or is it an alloy to alloy fit?

Thanks for any replies!

There should be seals to stop oil getting to the plugs and leaks are quiet common. The seals are not very much at from from a dealer. Same goes for for sump gasket seal but you can just use silicone. There should also be a spacer plate between the sump and block check that this has a silicone joint, as if it has been off someone may not have re-sealed it.

Hope this helps.
