philfingers 5 Posted September 1, 2006 I bought an Mi16 motor yesterday. The compression checks were about 180, 180, 170 and 190 across 4,3,2, & 1. There was oil lying in the spark plug holes, what casues this? and what do I do to fix it. The guy i bought the engine from seemd to think there were o rings in there as well as the rocker cover gasket. The sump is also possibly leaking. It's an alloy sump with fine ribs in it. Is this an a/c sump or a std one. If I have to replace the gaskets on the sump is there one or is it an alloy to alloy fit? Thanks for any replies!
sorr 0 Posted September 1, 2006 There should be seals to stop oil getting to the plugs and leaks are quiet common. The seals are not very much at from from a dealer. Same goes for for sump gasket seal but you can just use silicone. There should also be a spacer plate between the sump and block check that this has a silicone joint, as if it has been off someone may not have re-sealed it. Hope this helps.
