Anyone Know What This Connector Is For?

Recommended Posts

Ben Allen

Just been rooting around under my steering column in the vain hope of sorting out my lack of dash illumination and I found this connector flying around:

Anyone know what it's for/if it's supposed to be plugged into anything? It's a blue spade connector on a green wire.

Also it's NOT the wire that comes out of the dash wiring that's usually yellow that doesn't plug into anything

Cheers

40 is the wire(s) which go to the door switch

so it looks like its the one for the drivers side, it goes down behind the side of the dash and through the hole in the frame infront of the door to the switch.

you should find that when you open you door (try both sides) the interior light doesn't come on

HTH

Were your dash bulbs working before?

or have they stopped working after a particular incident?

Also do you get any other interior illumination lights coming on when you turn the lights on ?ie heater controls, button lights, clock etc just trying to assertain where the fault may lie

Have you used a meter to check for power to the dash bulbs?

I've not got one unfortunately.

Matt - the car was fine until the battery live got earthed. Since then there's been endless problems. I've had the whole loom (everything behind the dash and the engine loom) replaced to stop all the niggles but it's still fubar'd

Go buy one quick, theyre the most useful tool for diagnosing electrical problems and sure beat replacing stuff until it works.
