Does anyone know where I can get a replacement lower steering column please,

Its for an 1988 cti 1.6, non pas and the column has splines,

I'm going to try euro car parts on my way home from work, but I can't see the one I need in their catalogue,

thanks,

Phil

Scrapyard - I would be surprised if there were any differences across models

Thanks for the swift reply, Is there any way of telling if they are any good without having to fit and try them?

they're about £60 new from Pug, which I thought was surprisingly reasonable for a genuine part. You don't seem to be able to buy pattern ones though (GSF/ECP/High St places don't list them).

scrap yard is probably the best bet. all you're checking is the u/j itself - make sure there's no play in it and that it isn't at all stiff in either direction.

can't remember the change point, but earlier non PAS racks had a circular pinion, whilst later ones had a square pinion.

i have a good spare circular pinion one which you can have for the cost of p&p if it's any good to you.
