acox99 74 1 Cars Posted August 29, 2006 My MI engine has a knocking noise from the bottom end and i suspect its a big end bearing, which would mean having the crank re-ground, but is it worth getting it balanced as well? where is the best place to get it done, want to use it for track days so will get a regular thrashing. Miles 331 1 Cars Posted August 29, 2006 Sounds like the all too common big end failure, You might get away with a grind if your lucky or worst case the cranks can bend and bugger up the rod as well, Just depends on how far it's been driven
acox99 74 1 Cars Posted August 30, 2006 it still seems to idle ok, just starts knocking around 2000 rpm, havent driven it mtself and havent yet assessed the damage.
