Jenvey Throttle Bodies

Recommended Posts

Seen a pair of Jenveys at a good price, but there on an XE red top engine, can they be fitted to an MI, can you buy the adaptors of jenvey for different engines, also are throttle bodies pretty reliable and sturdy?

cheers

It does dpend on which model the TB's are but essentaially the bodies are universal and are put together in pairs to suit an inlet manifold.

You need to find out the exact model of Jenvey they are and compare them on here: http://www.jenvey.co.uk/~Bodies1.htm

Ideally you want them to be TBS45i

is it worth it, i want to make a race engine, for hillclimb. what sort of sensors are needed compared to the ones on the existing injection system, can they be used with a turbo engine, also want to get a lumpier cam, and i know you get best results with throttle bodies, do say jenvey suply the manifold, sensors etc? not worried about ecu as will need after market one whatever.

anyone got any pros cons, if they have been down this route?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/twin-45-jenvey-throt...1QQcmdZViewItem these are the ones i was looking at

questions questions... get off your arse and do some searching/reading through the forum, everything you have asked has been covered before so try that :(

Those bodies in the auction look a little different to mine so can't be 100% they will fit the Mi, ask the sell what model number they are.

If they are DCOE pattern (like Weber twin carbs) then you can get a manifold.

In fact no matter what you should be able to get a manifold made up to make them fit - its all down to knowing the right people and having the cash.

Those particular bodies are direct to head, XE fitment, although not impossible, would be a PITAa to fit, would need an adapter made etc.

And perhaps not worth running ITB's for a turbo'd engine, not really a benefit.

They're direct to head so unfortunately a no-go. :(

You should be able to get bodies on and running for less than £2k. This is approximately what you need:

Jenvey CKPG03 kit, includes bodies, manifold, linkages, fuel rails. £690+VAT

Filter £90+VAT

Fuel reg and 2nd hand injectors £80+ VAT

ECU from £400-£600+VAT depending on type

Loom conversion about £180-£280 +VAT dependoing on who does it.

Mapping £200-???? + VAT depending on who does it.

Installation £??? Depending on who does it.

So a base price of about £1900 including VAT.

Or you could source secondhand parts and or use megasquirt, bike bodies etc and have possibly more hassle, but knock a few hundred off.

Properly done, bodies will give you more power everywhere, don't just talk about the change to peak power!

The Jenvey 'kit' doesn't include a few essential parts though, this is what I ordered from them for my install:

Peugeot Mi16 + TBs - CKPG03

Linkage kit - CLS1

Air Box backplate - Aluminium Flat Backed

Filter 430x140x100 Foam - ABF2/100

Throttle Pot (Colvern CP17) - TP1

Total was £1140 inc. VAT

Interesting thread about the kit here: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=43934

ive sourced 2nd hand parts for my bodies costing around 1200 so far, but ive still got a few of the smaller things to get. I envisage itll be about 1500 all in but not proffesionally mapped, ill save that until i can afford matching cam/s

I listed the filter as well! The TPS is furry muff, but you don't have to use the linkage kit, a regular Mi cable and bracket can be used, saving £100. Not to mention that there are people out there selling Jenvey stuff at ex VAT prices. I'm sure QEP would do a decent package deal on the KMS equivalents if you got all the kit at once.

Putting TB's on my 1.8 16v (interchangeable with the Mi) went like this:

Second hand DTA £450

Loom plug £7.50 and homemade loom about £10 in sundries

Complete Inlet/45mm TB's/Trumpets/TPS/linkages/backplate by Colin Satchell £600

ITG Filter £60

OE Cable kit (feckin rip off btw, generic kit for all Pugs it seems) £30

Installing and mapping myself £0

Total= £1157.50

Noise and mid range= priceless

Don't stress mate... I was mearly listing everything you would need were you to call up Jenvey and get all the stuff to fit from them :P

If I were doing it again, I would go with the KMS TB's in an instant... just that Jenvey have the industry name so that's what most people think about when talking Throttle Bodies.
